The mahagathbandhan leaders will hit the streets on August 7 against the state government over several demands.
A fresh politics has erupted in Bihar over the pratirodh (resistance) march called by the mahagathbandhan against the Nitish Kumar government on Sunday.
The mahagathbandhan leaders will hit the streets on August 7 over 10 different demands, which include farmer distress due to insufficient rainfall in some parts of the state and flood-like situations in other parts.
Importantly, the protest march will also be an occasion for the mahagathbandhan to showcase their unity, especially between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, which in the last three assembly by-elections have fought against each other.
The RJD, Congress and Left will participate in the pratirodh march which will be held across all the district headquarters in the state.
“Every political party has its own ideology but all the parties of mahagathbandhan are united. The protest march will be taken out against the wrong policy of the Bihar government”, said Mrityunjay Tiwari, RJD spokesperson.
The mahagathbandhan has demanded the state government to declare the state drought-hit and provide free electricity to farmers 24×7 for the purpose of farming. The RJD-alliance has also demanded the government to control rising inflation and the rollback of an increase in prices of petrol, diesel and LPG cylinders.
The ruling party, however, has hit back at the mahagathbandhan and demanded that their leaders should in fact take out a maafi (apology) march for the anarchy which prevailed during their governance.
Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM) spokesperson Danish Rizwan said, “Leaders of Mahagathbandhan should take out a maafi march instead of a pratirodh march for the anarchy which prevailed during their regime. The people of Bihar laugh at such antics of the mahagathbandhan leaders”.
