The horrific train crash that killed more than 300 people and injured about 900 in Odisha’s Balasore on Friday evening was caused when the Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express derailed and collided with a goods train that was parked on the loop track on the side, the derailed coaches hit the incoming Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express.

The tragic incidence has happened possible due to the signalling error may have caused Odisha train accident. What happened to the anti-collision devices ? This is indeed a tragedy of unheard proportions that should have never happened. A question comes on how three trains could come on the same track? The investigation report only will tell the truth, weather it is human error or a cyberattack?

Railways is looking at possibility of signalling error as prima facie cause of Odisha train accident, The Indian Express reported. In a joint-inspection, it was concluded that a green signal was given to Coromandel Express to pass through main line, and then the signal was taken off. But it entered loop line and rammed into goods train and derailed.

Three general coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express are completely damaged and derailed. Families crushed away, limbless bodies and a bloodbath on the train tracks. It was a sight that I will never forget. God help the families. Our deep condolences to the families suffered huge loss .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday visited a hospital in Odisha’s Balasore to meet those injured in the Odisha triple train accident, where the Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw accompanied PM Modi. Earlier, PM Modi had visited the site of the accident. At that time, there were more than 260 people have lost their lives in the accident.

It is a horrified tragedy, where the entire country in on the pain ,we must get to the root cause of this tragedy. Whether it human or technical error, neither should have resulted in such devastation. We need to re-look at our fail-safe mechanisms in railway operations.

There has to be the priority for enhancing the basic infrastructure and safety to the presently running Railway, where about 25 lakh people ae travelling daily in the trains, rather to invest all the money into bullet trains.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee questioned the official Odisha train accident death toll saying more than 500 people might have died. It is the time to fully focus on making sure that restoration happens at the earliest. All it shows, the manner in which they showed negligence and didn’t show alertness led to such a large number of casualties. There was a major negligence from the Indian Railways.
