According to an SBI report, the number of bank branches per 100,000 adults in India rose to 14.7 in 2020 from 13.6 in 2015, which is higher than Germany, China and South Africa. The increase in the number has been boosted by Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana, digital infrastructure and usage of banking correspondent or BC model for furthering financial inclusion. The Government has cut the basic duty on Crude Palm Oil, Crude Soyabean Oil and Crude Sunflower Oil from 2.5% to nil  in a bid to reign in continuous rise in the cooking oil prices since past one year.  The Agri-cess on these Oils has been brought down from 20% to 7.5% for Crude Palm Oil and 5% for Crude Soyabean Oil and Crude Sunflower Oil. According to a foreign brokerage, the cut in the excise duty on diesel and petrol will cost Rs 45,000 crore to the exchequer and lead to a 0.3 percentage point widening on the Centre’s fiscal deficit. On the eve of Diwali on Wednesday, the central government announced a cut in excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 per litre and diesel by Rs 10 per litre. The State Bank of India (SBI) has launched India’s first “Video Life Certificate” (VLC) service. Through this service, pensioners will be able to submit their Life Certificates through a simple video call from the comfort of their homes. It is mandatory for every government pensioner to submit an annual Life Certificate in November to continue receiving a pension.   “Now submit your #LifeCertificate from the comfort of your home! Our #VideoLifeCertificate service launching on 1st Nov 2021 will allow pensioners to submit their life certificates through a simple video call,” SBI informed via a tweet.
