According to a study by Check Point Research, the latest versions Facebook, Instagram, and WeChat hosted on Google Play may contain known security vulnerabilities that could leave users exposed to attacks. Check Point claims that it did a cross-examination of the latest versions of such high-profile mobile applications for three known remote control execution (RCE) vulnerabilities dating from 2014, 2015 and 2016. PayPal to acquire Honey for $4 billion

PayPal has announced to acquire Honey Science Corporation, the makers of a deal-finding browser add-on and mobile application, for $4 billion, mostly cash. States want urgent GST Council meet for addressing ₹40,000 cr due

Amit Mitra, Bengal Finance Minister has claimed for the GST compensation and the argument over GST compensation continued between the Centre and the State governments. Amit Mitra points out that the dues owed to the States and three Union Territories with Legislative Assemblies total about ₹40,000 crore. The GST Act provides that States and UTs with Assemblies are guaranteed compensation if the GST revenue growth is less than 14 per cent. The amount is paid bi-monthly. RBI takes over DHFL board citing ‘defaulting’ issues

The Reserve Bank of India has taken control over the board of Dewan Housing Finance Corp. Ltd (DHFL) and appointed an administrator in its place, citing ‘governance concerns and payment defaults’. It will soon start insolvency proceedings against the non-banking finance company (NBFC). R. Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that the government would take every possible step to revive debt-laden telecom operator BSNL Ltd. The government in October had announced a revival package that included the merger of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) with BSNL. Until the proposed merger, MTNL will operate as a subsidiary of BSNL. Fake international call centre busted in Delhi

In an operation conducted by West Delhi Police, a call centre operating out of a house in Moti Nagar was raided and its 32 employees were arrested on charges of threatening and extorting money from Canadian nationals by impersonating the local police. According to news reports, HP Inc. has rejected a roughly $33.5 billion takeover offer from Xerox. The Palo Alto company confirms that the cash and stock deal undervalues its business and its board cited concerns about “outsized” debt levels should the companies combine.
