Asserting that it was his biggest mistake to trust them, Uddhav Thackeray asked the Shinde faction not to ask for votes in his father’s name.

Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray, in his first interview to party’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ after stepping down as the chief minister of Maharashtra, has said that he was betrayed and that the coup was planned when he was admitted and could barely move.

” The coup was planned when I was in the hospital and could barely move. When my body wasn’t moving, their movements were at the peak,” Uddhav told Saamana.

Hitting out at chief minister Eknath Shinde, who was joined by over two-third of Shiv Sena MLAs in June, which resulted in the Sena vs Sena battle, Uddhav said, “Even if I have made him the CM, his ambitions are devilish.” Asserting that it was his biggest mistake to trust them, he also asked the Shinde faction not to ask for votes in his father’s name.

“The rotten leaves should fall from the tree. The ones who got everything from the tree are leaving the tree itself,” he said, attacking the Shinde faction.

He added, “Those who left are the ones who got the maximum, but we will make extraordinary leaders out of ordinary people now…these are the people who want to swallow their mother (the ‘original’ Shiv Sena), but a mother is a mother after all.”

Also, attacking the BJP, which made an alliance with the Shinde faction, Uddhav said the saffron party would have gained a lot of respect if it had agreed to his demands in 2019. “What BJP did now, had they done it then (2019), then it would have happened with a lot of respect. Their extra spending in crores could have been saved.”

Delhi backstabbed Maharashtra… They are about to finish those who took care of them,” he added.

The Shiv Sena chief also said that some people are trying to break the unity amongst Hindus. “They want to finish Shiv Sena because they don’t want another partner in Hindutva. They want to separate the Thackerays from the Shiv Sena.”

Also, talking about the Maha Vikas Agadi (MVA), a coalition of Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP which was formed in November 2019, Uddhav said, “If the MVA experiment was a mistake, people would have revolted against us. Ajit Pawar never snatched away my mike.”
