Delhi L-G Vinai Kumar Saxena has approved the withdrawal of cases against migrant labourers for violating lockdown measures during the covid-19 pandemic.

There were 25 cases registered against more than 164 migrants.

According to the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, adopting a humanitarian approach, it has been observed that these violations are very small, and were committed by helpless migrants under compulsion during the covid-19 lockdown.

This decision has also been taken, keeping in mind the Supreme Court’s decision of June 9, which said that most people had lost their livelihood due to which they could not even pay rent and could not even meet their basic needs.

A total of 43 cases of violation of the DDMA (Act) were made during the covid-19 lockdown in Delhi.

Out of these 43, 18 have already been settled in court while the Lieutenant Governor has given approval to withdraw the remaining 25 cases.
