Delhi Schools Receive Bomb Threats via Email, Students Sent Home Amid Security Scare

A team of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) and police immediately reached the spot. Police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad, along with DFS personnel started a search operation on the entire premises of schools.

Forty schools in Delhi received bomb threats via e-mails on Monday Morning. RK Puram’s Delhi Public School, Paschim Vihar’s GD Goenka School, Mayurvihar’s Mother Mary’s School, British School, Salwan School, Modern School, Cambridge School, DAV School were among the schools that received the treat emails.

School administrations sent children back to their homes. According to Delhi Police, cops and the fire brigade were informed about the threat at 7 am this morning.
The threat email was received at 11 pm last night. School authorities informed the parents to bring back their kids to their homes. The Police and bomb disposal squad checked the premises of both schools and so far no objectionable object was found on the spot.

“Dear Parents, An email was received this morning regarding a bomb threat in school. As such the students are being dispersed immediately as a precautionary measure. You are requested to kindly collect your wards from your respective bus stops. On footer parents are requested to kindly come and collect their wards immediately. The Bus Route Incharges will keep you updated about the movement of the buses from time to time,” a notification issued by the administration of Mother Mary’s School read.

Delhi: Private school in Rohini receives hoax bomb threat via email

Earlier on November 9, a private school in Delhi’s Rohini, located within one kilometre of the site of a low-intensity blast in Prashant Vihar, had received a bomb threat via email. However, the threat was later declared a hoax after a thorough search in the school premises. According to an official, a call was received from the Delhi Police about the bomb threat email at Venkateshwar Global School (VGS).

No suspicious object was found and the threat was declared a hoax, the officer added.

The Delhi Police in a statement said that a PCR call was received from Venkateshwar Global School around 10.55 am regarding a bomb threat email.

“On receiving the call, senior officers and staff immediately reached the Spot. Further, bomb squad, dog squad, fire brigade, Special Cell, Cyber Cell and Special Branch staff also reached the school,” read the statement.

The school was evacuated by the school management and a thorough check was carried out in the school by the Bomb Detection Squad. Nothing suspicious was found. However, the source of the threat email is being verified. Legal action will be taken accordingly, it read.
