Dividing in Pasi votes, the support of the upper-backward

Hardoi.  Issues of development are absent in Sandi seat this time. The candidates of political parties are sweating to fit the caste equation instead of development.

Due to the distribution of Pasi votes here, the candidates are trying to cross their boat with the help of upper caste and backward voters. There are about one lakh non-Yadav backward and sixty thousand upper caste voters in this seat, who can change the direction of the election.

In 1967, Mannilal of Congress was elected MLA from Ahirori seat which came into existence from Gopamau. He secured 11,862 votes and defeated independent Jagdish by three thousand votes.

In 1969, Parmailal contested as an independent and defeated Manilal of Congress by 237 votes after a hard struggle. In 1977, Manilal got 15,698 votes and defeated Parmailal by 3,426 votes.

After the Emergency in 1977, when Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections were held simultaneously, Parmailal contested the Lok Sabha elections and won. In the assembly elections, Manilal became MLA for the third time by securing 18,630 votes defeating Shambhudayal of Janata Party by 7,340 votes.

In 1980, Parmailal opened the account of BJP in the district by winning by 4,336 votes. He defeated Satyapal of Congress (I) by securing 19952 votes.

In 1985, Parmailal got 29,165 votes and defeated Manilal of Congress by 12,097 votes by contesting from Lok Dal. In 1989, Parmailal of Janata Dal defeated Shyam Prakash by securing 32,471 votes.

Pasi candidates of all four major parties are in the fray
Due to Sandi being a Pasi-dominated seat, all four major political parties have fielded Pasi candidates. Here two big political families of the district are in the electoral fray. Kuber, father of BJP candidate Prabhas Kumar, is making good inroads in the Pasi society.

Prabhas is the sitting MLA and his brother and uncle Rampal Verma has been an MLA and Minister of State for eight times from Misrikh. On the other hand, SP candidate Usha Verma has been MP thrice and MLA once
She is handling the political legacy of father-in-law Parmailal. Paramai, a big leader of the Pasis, was a six-time MLA and two-time MP.

158 Sandi assembly seat was formed in the delimitation held in 2008 by adding part of Sandi block of Bilgram and Sursa and Ahirori of Sadar seat. In the first election held in 2012, Rajeshwari of SP became MLA from this seat.
Kuber and Paramai were the favorite of the Pasis.


Tuti used to speak in the district of Kuber and Parmailal. Both of them have been great leaders of the Pasi society. Kuber has been the head of the Kothawan block twice. Rampal Verma has been an MLA and Minister of State for eight times.

Son MLA and nephew Ashok Rawat was a two-time MP. At the same time, relatives are holding all political positions. At the same time, Parmailal has been a six-time MLA and two-time MP.

Wife Jadurani once, elder daughter-in-law Rajeshwari was MLA twice. Younger daughter-in-law Usha Verma was MP thrice and MLA once.
