Talking about AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, UP CM Yogi Adityanath asked him if he wanted to Talibanise India. He said such debates should be held in Afghanistan.

Reacting to Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s remark that a girl wearing a hijab would be the Prime Minister of India one day, UP CM Yogi Adityanath said the BJP supports the growth of women but they should also be given the freedom to grow without the imposition of orthodox rules. He asked, “Does he [Owaisi] want to Talibanise India? If he wants to talk about such issues, he should do those debates in Afghanistan.”

In an exclusive interview with India Today TV, he said the BJP encourages the development of women and people like Owaisi should also support steps like the law against triple talaq implemented by the government.

He said the orthodox mindset of such people poses a hurdle to the development of women in this country.

Speaking to India Today TV he said: “Every person is free to wear what he or she wants. But that freedom is limited to public places, markets and homes. But I don’t impose a dress code on anyone. I can’t do that.”

He was referring to the Karnataka hijab controversy wherein girl students are demanding permission to wear hijab in classrooms.

However, every organisation must follow uniform regulations. If a policeman says that he is from a particular religion and he will dress up accordingly, then the organisation will descend into chaos.”
