Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice of India (CJI) NV Ramana and Law Minister Kiren Rijiju will participate in the inaugural session of the two-day national level meeting of all district legal services authorities (DLSA) in New Delhi on Saturday.
They will discuss the implementation of the Unified business process for providing effective legal aid to marginalised and poor.
The session will be organised by the National Legal Services Authority of India (NALSA) at Vigyan Bhawan on July 30 and 31.
“The deliberations will cover the efforts and protocols being created to streamline the functioning of the DLSAs across the country,” an official statement read.
The central authority is also working on creating a “Comprehensive Procedures cum Working Manual” for legal services in India. The Supreme Court judge, Justice UU Lalit, who is the executive Chairman of NALSA, is expected to discuss the Unified procedure and policy for all legal services during the sessions.
The meeting will also include sessions on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital platforms to enhance the delivery of legal services, approaches to ensure access to legal services for disadvantaged groups, strengthening mediation and Lok Adalats for quicker disposal of disputes, and ensuring access to justice for people in custody.
Senior judges of the Supreme Court and high courts, as well as, senior lawyers are scheduled to act as panellists for the sessions.
