Union Minister Giriraj Singh was allegedly attacked during an event in Begusarai, Bihar, on August 31. The incident occurred while Singh was holding a program in the Ballia subdivision, during which a man identified as Shahzad alias Saifi was arrested for “behaving indecently” and attempting to breach the security cordon.
The incident took place at Singh’s ‘Janta Darbaar’ in Begusarai. As the Union Minister was leaving the venue after his address, a group of miscreants allegedly tried to attack him and raised “Muradabad” slogans. Police immediately arrested Saifi, who was identified as a resident of Ballia and a ward councillor.
Begusarai Superintendent of Police Manish said, “One person has been arrested. The Union Minister (Giriraj Singh) had a program in Ballia subdivision this afternoon, during which a person behaved indecently. The policemen present in the security cordon caught him, and further action is underway. The person’s name is Shahzad alias Saifi; he was caught behaving indecently and trying to break the security cordon.”
Reacting to the alleged attack, Union Minister Giriraj Singh stated that he will not be deterred by threats and will continue his work. Singh emphasized his commitment to speaking and fighting for societal interests, adding, “I am not going to be scared by these attacks. Those who pamper and caress them on seeing their beard and cap should see today how land jihad, love jihad, and communal tension are being created in the entire country, including Begusarai, Bihar.”
Singh also suggested that the situation could have been worse had the attacker been armed, stating, “If this man had a revolver in his hand, just as he attacked me, he would have killed me too. He used very indecent language… I will continue my work, I will not stray from my goal, I will not be afraid of anyone’s threats, I will continue my campaign.”
The Union Minister reiterated Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s controversial “Batenge to Katenge” (if you divide, you will be cut) remark in his response, indicating his stance against actions he perceives as creating communal tensions.
