Government Commits to Boosting Domestic Defence Production and Manufacturing Ecosystem

The Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing domestic defence production and supporting the ecosystem to strengthen manufacturing in the country. This was highlighted by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane during his keynote address at a virtual seminar on quality reforms.

In his address, Aramane emphasized the importance of achieving the set goals and stressed the need for attaining self-reliance (Atmanirbharata) in defence manufacturing. He pointed out the crucial role of all stakeholders, particularly the domestic defence industry, in realizing this vision.

Lt Gen R S Reen, Director General of the Directorate General of Quality Assurance, also spoke at the seminar, highlighting various quality initiatives and reforms undertaken by his organization. These efforts are aimed at facilitating ease of doing business and promoting Atmanirbharata.

The seminar saw participation from representatives of over 250 defence industries, members of industry bodies such as FICCI, ASSOCHAM, and CCI, as well as CMDs of Defence Public Sector Undertakings, start-ups, and other key stakeholders.

The Government’s focus on quality reforms and the engagement of diverse industry players underline a comprehensive approach to bolstering the country’s defence manufacturing capabilities
