A New Chapter in Odisha’s Growth Story
The newly-formed BJP-led government in Odisha, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has hit the ground running with a vision that blends industrial resurgence with technological transformation. In a bold stride toward this goal, the state is all set to welcome one of India’s largest IT firms—HCLTech—which will establish both a state-of-the-art campus and a technology university in Bhubaneswar.
The announcement was made at the Odisha Investors’ Meet held in New Delhi, where the state pitched itself as a rapidly emerging investment destination. Odisha is clearly repositioning itself—from a state traditionally known for mining and minerals to a modern hub for technology, innovation, and education.
HCLTech’s Entry: A Turning Point for Odisha’s Tech Ecosystem
Chief Minister Majhi made the formal announcement following his visit to HCLTech’s NOIDA campus, where he engaged in discussions focused on Global Capability Centres (GCCs), digital innovation, and employment generation. Speaking to a gathering of top industrialists and potential investors, he confirmed that HCLTech will soon commence operations in Odisha by setting up a full-fledged IT campus in Bhubaneswar.
In a major boost to Odisha’s education infrastructure, HCLTech also plans to establish a university offering specialized programs in Artificial Intelligence, Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, and Computer Science. This institution is expected to attract both national and international talent, positioning Odisha as a key player in digital skilling and research.
Tech Momentum Building Across the State
The entry of HCLTech is part of a larger trend in Odisha’s IT evolution. Leading firms like TCS, Infosys, and Wipro have already made their presence felt in the state, and the arrival of HCL is set to add critical momentum to this trajectory.
This growing tech ecosystem is well-aligned with the state’s broader development goals—creating high-value jobs, fostering innovation, and diversifying the economy beyond its historical reliance on heavy industries and minerals.
Officials have confirmed that the upcoming HCLTech campus will serve as a center for digital learning, research, and high-tech employment, thereby contributing to inclusive growth and regional talent retention.
Beyond Tech: Major MoUs Signal Industrial Upswing
The Investors’ Meet also brought major announcements from the petrochemical sector, with upcoming MoUs involving Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL), Petronet LNG, and Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd (ISPRL). These collaborations are expected to catalyze investments in infrastructure development, energy security, and employment generation.
CM Majhi highlighted that these ventures are not just commercial in nature but also contribute to the broader goals of Atmanirbhar Bharat, helping make India and Odisha more self-reliant, resilient, and sustainable.
Odisha’s New Era of Innovation and Opportunity
With the arrival of HCLTech and strategic industrial partnerships taking shape, Odisha is clearly entering a transformative phase. The state is carving out a new identity—as a technology-forward, investor-friendly destination equipped to support digital enterprises and world-class education.
Under CM Mohan Majhi’s leadership, Odisha’s ambitious push into the IT, education, and industrial sectors signals not just growth—but smart, future-ready growth. If these plans are executed effectively, the state could soon be counted among India’s leading innovation hubs—ushering in a brighter, more connected future for its youth and economy.
