Kejriwal expressed his frustration while talking to the media after casting his vote in the presidential election.
“I am not a criminal, I am the elected Chief Minister and I am a free citizen of the country. Why am I being stopped? The Government of Singapore has specially called me to present the Delhi model,” he said, stressing there appears to be a “political reason” behind the delay in granting him permission to visit Singapore for a summit.
“People from all over the world will hear about the Delhi model. This will promote the country on an international level. Donald Trump’s wife came to see Delhi’s school, Norway’s former Prime Minister also came to see Mohalla Clinic model and Centre should not stop such things,” he further added.
He also wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that he has been waiting for permission for over a month now.
Arvind Kejriwal has been invited to attend the World Cities Summit in Singapore which is scheduled to be held in the first week of August.
Amit Malviya, in-charge of BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, took to Twitter and wrote, “Arvind Kejriwal is seeking permission to attend a conference in Singapore, which is meant for Mayors. Someone remind him that he is still the Chief Minister of Delhi unless he thinks otherwise. Hemali Boghawala, Mayor of Surat, for instance, has also been invited from India.”
