Major Milestones in Indian Railways
The Prime Minister highlighted India’s rapid advancements in railway infrastructure, underscoring the inauguration of new railway divisions and terminals in Jammu and Kashmir, Odisha, and Telangana.
- Jammu & Kashmir: The Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail line now boasts the world’s tallest Chenab Bridge and India’s first cable-stayed rail bridge, the Anji Khad Bridge, enhancing connectivity and economic opportunities in the region.
- Odisha: The newly established Rayagada Railway Division, alongside investments exceeding ₹70,000 crore, promises to boost trade, tourism, and employment, particularly benefiting South Odisha’s tribal communities.
- Telangana: The Cherlapalli New Terminal Station, powered by solar energy, is set to ease congestion at major city terminals and accelerate regional development.
Connectivity Beyond Railways
The Prime Minister also celebrated India’s growing metro network, which has now surpassed 1,000 kilometers, a testament to Bharat’s vision of seamless urban mobility. With metro services operational in 21 cities and state-of-the-art airports in over 150 locations, India’s modern infrastructure is paving the way for a vibrant economy.

The introduction of high-speed Vande Bharat trains, redevelopment of Amrit Bharat stations, and nearly 100% electrification of rail lines showcase India’s commitment to sustainable and efficient transportation. “We are not just building infrastructure; we are building confidence and aspirations,” the Prime Minister said.

Indian Railways’ transformation has catalyzed job creation, skill development, and industrial growth. Initiatives like ‘One Station, One Product,’ solar panel installations, and Gati Shakti cargo terminals are bolstering local economies and creating lakhs of employment opportunities.

The Prime Minister reiterated the mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ emphasizing that the benefits of progress are being distributed equitably across states.
