In a significant move during a street corner meeting in East Delhi’s Gandhi Nagar constituency, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal put a spin on the BJP’s iconic 2014 poll slogan. He proclaimed, “acche din aane waale hain, Modi ji jaane waale hain,” subtly jabbing at Prime Minister Narendra Modi while expressing unwavering confidence in the I.N.D.I.A bloc, comprising various opposition parties, to emerge victorious in the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

Adding a personal dimension to his campaign, Kejriwal introduced his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, for the first time in his poll campaigns. He described her as “Jhansi Ki Rani,” evoking the spirit of the legendary queen known for her valor and leadership. Kejriwal credited Sunita for her pivotal role during his times of adversity, particularly during his incarceration. Her presence served to humanize Kejriwal’s image, portraying him as a family man and emphasizing the importance of his role in the lives of ordinary Delhiites.

In her address to the public, Sunita Kejriwal appealed to voters to support the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), expressing gratitude for their blessings that facilitated her husband’s presence amidst them. She invoked the belief that divine providence rewards those who uphold righteousness, urging voters to ensure Kejriwal’s continued freedom by casting their ballots in favor of AAP on May 25.

The urgency surrounding Kejriwal’s campaign is underscored by his recent arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money-laundering case linked to an alleged liquor scam in Delhi. While the Supreme Court granted him interim bail until June 1 expressly for campaigning, the looming specter of legal battles adds impetus to Kejriwal’s electoral efforts.

Despite the legal challenges, Kejriwal remains resolute in his predictions, boldly asserting the impending downfall of the Modi government on June 4. He cites widespread public discontent over issues such as inflation and unemployment as catalysts for this anticipated political shift.

Furthermore, Kejriwal did not miss the opportunity to critique PM Modi’s conduct, condemning his use of derogatory language against opposition leaders like Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray. Kejriwal questioned Modi’s statesmanship and respect for elders, casting doubts on his suitability for the highest office in the land.

As the electoral battleground heats up with polling scheduled for seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi on May 25, Kejriwal’s impassioned rhetoric aims to sway voter sentiment and present a compelling alternative to the BJP’s campaign narrative. The results, slated for June 4, will not only determine the electoral fate of Delhi but also hold implications for the national political landscape.
