Bhopal: Following the overwhelming victory of the BJP in the Madhya Pradesh assembly elections, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated on Tuesday that he has never considered himself a candidate for the CM’s position, neither in the past nor at present.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) did not put forth any specific chief ministerial candidate during the 2023 assembly elections, where the BJP secured 163 out of 230 seats, while the Congress won 66 seats, and the Bharat Adivasi Party obtained one seat.
In a video statement shared on his official X account, Chouhan, who has served as Madhya Pradesh’s chief minister four times, expressed his commitment as a dedicated party worker. He emphasized that throughout his political journey, he has undertaken tasks assigned by the BJP with sincerity, dedication, and honesty.
“I have neither been a contender for the chief minister (post) earlier nor am I today. As a party worker, I have always carried out whatever work assigned by the BJP with dedication, to the best of my ability, genuineness and honesty,” Chouhan stated.
Expressing gratitude to the voters, Chouhan acknowledged the unprecedented support given to the BJP and considered he fortunate to be a worker of the party. He highlighted his pride in working alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, whom he praised for leading the nation towards a glorious, prosperous, and powerful future.
I have only one resolution: Shivraj
CM Shivraj said that he has only one resolution and that is to ensure BJP registers victory in 29 Lok Sabha seats in the upcoming general elections.
He said that he will go to Chhindwara where the party lost all 7 seats in Assembly polls.
Speaking to reporters in Bhopal, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I am not going to Delhi. Tomorrow, I will go to Chhindwara where we couldn’t win any of the 7 seats of Vidhan Sabha. I have only one resolution that the BJP should win all 29 seats of Madhya Pradesh in the Lok Sabha polls.”
Shivraj said further, “We want to garland Prime Minister Modi. The garland will be made of a total of 29 Lotus and again he becomes Prime Minister of the country.”
Earlier today, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan welcomed ‘Ram Rath Yatra’ at his residence in Bhopal on Tuesday.
