According to government sources, 17 MPs and 104 MLAs cross-voted for Droupadi Murmu in the presidential election..

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Thursday thanked the ministers in his cabinet who cross-voted for Droupadi Murmu in the presidential election. NDA’s candidate Droupadi Murmu won the election and will become India’s next President

While celebrating Murmu’s win, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to the MLAs of other parties who, after listening to the voice of their conscience, decided to make Draupadi Murmu the next president.”

Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the NDA nominated Draupadi Murmu, “a sister from the tribal community” for the post of president and she is now elected to the country’s biggest constitutional post. “It is a very proud moment”, added Chouhan.

It was estimated that many MLAs from Madhya Pradesh cross-voted for Droupadi Murmu.

Government sources said 17 MPs and 104 MLAs cross-voted for the BJP candidate.

Murmu will be administered the oath of office on July 25
