If you are a mango lover and crave naturally ripened mangoes, the Mango Festival organized by NABARD in Bhopal is the perfect event for you. Running until June 18, the festival showcases around two dozen varieties of mangoes, offering a delightful experience for all attendees.

Akashvani correspondent reports that the festival features a wide array of mango varieties such as Jardalu, Amrapali, Totapuri, Kesar, Rajapuri, and Sundarja, all of which are emblematic of Madhya Pradesh’s rich agricultural heritage. These varieties highlight the state’s diverse mango cultivation and provide a unique opportunity to taste some of the finest mangoes in the region.

Avinash Sivalkar, Deputy General Manager of NABARD Bhopal, noted that farmers from different districts of Madhya Pradesh have brought their unique mango varieties to the festival, showcasing the state’s agricultural diversity and expertise.

One of the festival’s highlights is the Sundarja mango, known for its low sugar content of less than five percent, making it an excellent choice for people with diabetes. This mango has earned a GI (Geographical Indication) tag due to its distinctive fragrance and exceptional qualities.

Additionally, the festival offers the opportunity to purchase the Noor Jahan mango, priced at around two thousand rupees per kilogram. This rare variety, weighing between two to four kilograms per fruit, is exclusively grown in the Alirajpur district of Madhya Pradesh.

The Mango Festival not only celebrates the beloved fruit but also supports local farmers by providing them with a platform to showcase their produce. It is a must-visit event for mango enthusiasts and anyone interested in exploring the diverse flavors and varieties of mangoes grown in Madhya Pradesh.
