India Champions Ethical Science for Global Good- Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan recently chaired the Global Young Scientists Conference and the Annual General Meeting of the Global Young Academy (GYA) at IIT Hyderabad. The event's primary objective was to foster scientific collaboration and innovation, aligning with India's vision of human-centric development and global well-being.

India's Science Philosophy: Empathy and Equity

During the conference, Minister Pradhan articulated India's core philosophy regarding science, emphasizing that for India, "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam – one earth, one family, one future – is not just a slogan but a way of life." He underscored India's commitment to "compassionate, ethical, and equitable science." This ethos, he stated, underpins India's global engagement, exemplified by initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance, Agreement for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Mission Life, and India Science and Research Fellowship. These programs, according to Pradhan, reflect India's vision of "Vishwa Bandhutva" or global friendship through scientific collaboration.

Empowering the Vulnerable Through Innovation

Pradhan called upon scientists, innovators, and policymakers to unite in building eco-systems and solutions that specifically "empower the poorest of the poor." He expressed confidence that the conference would serve as a crucial platform for knowledge dissemination in service of humanity. He urged scientists to collaborate and co-create with a strong sense of purpose and empathy, aiming to realize the vision of a developed India and pursue human-centered development globally.

Fostering a Green Future

Beyond the scientific discourse, Minister Pradhan also participated in the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative at IIT Hyderabad, planting saplings to honor mothers. He emphasized the profound message and impact of this seemingly small act, encouraging students and others to lead this "green movement" and join hands to protect, preserve, and nurture nature for a sustainable future.

Science as a Force for Universal Progress

Dharmendra Pradhan's address at the Global Young Scientists Conference powerfully articulates India's vision of science as a tool for universal progress, guided by compassion, ethics, and equity. By emphasizing global collaboration, empowering the vulnerable, and promoting environmental stewardship, India positions itself as a leader in human-centric scientific development. This approach not only fosters international cooperation but also underscores the responsibility of the scientific community to contribute to a sustainable and equitable future for all.
