The Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Commission has partnered with Patanjali Yogpeeth to promote cow protection, natural farming, and Panchgavya-based products across the state. The collaboration was formalised after discussions between Commission chairman Shyam Bihari Gupta, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, and Patanjali Co-founder Acharya Balkrishna in Haridwar, a government spokesperson said on Sunday.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who has consistently emphasised the role of cows in rural progress, has extended support to the initiative. Patanjali has pledged full technical support to state programmes linked to cow welfare and rural development.
Model Cow Shelters in 75 Districts
As part of the plan, two to ten cow shelters in each of the 75 districts will be developed into large model centres. These will serve as hubs of rural industry, focusing on biogas production and Panchgavya products (items derived from cow milk, ghee, curd, dung, and urine).
The programme is also expected to create large-scale rural employment, with villagers directly participating in cow urine collection and sales. Under the model, participants will receive a 50% commission on product sales. Patanjali will assist by providing training, quality control, formulation, certification, and licensing support.
Tech-Driven Cow Protection
The initiative will also leverage technology to modernise cow shelters. Plans include the introduction of geo-fencing, cow tagging, photo mapping, and fodder inventory tracking.
Additionally, natural farming inputs such as neem, cow urine, and vermicompost will be supplied to every village, helping farmers reduce input costs, enhance soil fertility, and promote environmental sustainability.
