Odisha’s Investment Boom: Secures Rs 16.73 Lakh Crore Investments at Utkarsh Odisha Conclave, Creating 12.88 Lakh Jobs

The Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 has emerged as a resounding success, setting new benchmarks for investment and industrial development in the state. With an unprecedented 145 investment-related Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed, the conclave has opened doors for transformative projects and economic partnerships. This milestone event reflects Odisha’s growing reputation as an attractive business destination, drawing significant national and global investors.

Record Investment Commitments

Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced a remarkable achievement with MoUs worth Rs 12.89 Lakh Crore signed across diverse sectors, including chemicals and petrochemicals, textiles, mining and metallurgy, renewable energy, IT/ITeS, tourism, and food processing. These investments are expected to generate over 8.94 Lakh job opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of the state.

 

In addition to these MoUs, the state received 448 investment intention forms valued at Rs 3.84 Lakh Crore, with an employment potential of 3.92 Lakh jobs. The conclave recorded an impressive total of 593 projects, amounting to Rs 16.73 Lakh Crore in investment and the potential creation of 12.88 Lakh jobs across more than 20 sectors.

Global Participation and Extended Exhibition

The event attracted delegates from over 16 countries, including representatives from Singapore, Malaysia, and Australia, reinforcing Odisha’s global industrial appeal. To enhance public engagement and awareness, Chief Minister Majhi announced an extension of the exhibition until January 31, 2025. This extension will provide the general public, particularly youth and students, an opportunity to witness Odisha’s transformation into an industrial powerhouse.

Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Majhi acknowledged his unwavering support and reiterated the Prime Minister’s endorsement of Odisha as a top investment destination. Majhi also commended the efforts of the Industries Department, IPICOL, IDCO, CII, PwC, and all involved organizations for the successful execution of the event.

Tourism Sector’s Promising Growth

Odisha’s tourism sector received a significant boost at the conclave, with 121 investment intents totalling Rs 8,153 Crore. Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida expressed confidence in Odisha’s emergence as a prime investment hub, stating that the state has become a beacon of hope for investors.

Speaking to the media, Parida highlighted the growing investor interest in tourism and announced initiatives such as an MSME park dedicated to women-led businesses, further promoting entrepreneurship and economic inclusivity.

Prime Minister Modi’s Endorsement and Vision for Odisha

The Utkarsh Odisha Conclave was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hailed it as the largest business summit the state has ever hosted. Addressing the attendees, Modi emphasized Odisha’s crucial role in the development of Eastern India, a region rapidly evolving into a key economic driver for the nation.

Highlighting Odisha’s historical trade connections with South East Asia, Modi noted the increasing interest from ASEAN countries, emphasizing the significance of reviving Odisha’s role in global commerce. He pointed out that recent diplomatic engagements, such as the visit of Singapore’s President, have further strengthened Odisha’s international economic ties.
