Opposition Meeting in Patna Today Live Updates: A mega Opposition meeting, hosted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, is underway in Patna to chalk out a roadmap for the formation of an anti-BJP front for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. The meeting is being attended by 27 political parties which include the Congress, AAP, NCP, TMC and others. The meeting started at 11.30 am and after the meeting, the opposition leaders are expected to issue a joint statement. Ahead of the meeting, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said all Opposition parties are going to defeat the BJP in the 2024 general elections unitedly. On one hand, there is the Congress’s “Bharat Jodo” ideology and, on the other hand, the BJP and RSS’ “Bharat Todo” ideology, Rahul Gandhi said. Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray play peacemaker in AAP-Congress tiff

NCP chief Sharad Pawar and former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray made attempts to iron out differences between the Congress and AAP at the mega Opposition meet in Patna. The two leaders cited the example of Maha Vikas Agadhi unity.

“We have been criticising each other past 25 years but we need to set every difference aside. We have kept it aside and now we are working together,” Pawar said.

Uddhav Thackeray also said on same lines and said the time has come to keep differences aside and come together.

Mamata Banerjee objects to Congress’s attitude in Bengal

At the mega Opposition unity meet in Patna, Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee objected to Congress’s attitude in Bengal.

“Everyone has to show a big heart. The BJP will benefit if they fight among themselves,” Mamata Banerjee said.

According to sources, all leaders of the Opposition meeting expressed that they must unite to defeat the BJP in the crucial 2024 polls. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal sought the support of parties on the Delhi ordinance, sources told India Today.

Many leaders, including Uddhav Thackeray, appealed to Congress to support the Delhi Ordinance, but Omar Abdullah snubbed the AAP chief. Omar Abdullah reminded Arvind Kejriwal’s stand on Article 370.

Sources also revealed that talks regarding the implementation of a common minimum program were also held. The need to make someone a coordinator for the opposition alliance was expressed.

Opposition unity nearly impossible: Amit Shah on Patna meet

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday dubbed as a “photo session” the meeting of opposition leaders in Patna, and said their unity is nearly impossible and they will face drubbing in the next Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing a public rally here, Shah also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying he has the habit of criticising everything.

Referring to the opposition meet underway in Bihar’s capital, Shah said, “A photo session is happening in Patna. All the opposition leaders have come together on a single platform to convey a message that they will challenge BJP, NDA and Modi (in 2024). (PTI)
