The petition said that given the extraordinary circumstances of the war and its effects, the government should find a middle way to amend the existing rules for the better future of these students.

A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Supreme Court for MBBS students returning from Ukraine to accommodate them in Indian medical colleges as a one-time measure.

The petition has been filed by Supreme Court lawyer Anoop Awasthi.

The petition said that given the extraordinary circumstances of the war and its effects, the government should find a middle way to amend the existing rules for the better future of these students.

“Orders should be given to the central and state governments to make arrangements to complete the students’ incomplete courses in the medical colleges of our country. Because these students are also the future of India,” the petition said.

In this emergency, the rules should be amended as a one-time measure,” the PIL added.
