Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged in significant bilateral discussions with the Emir of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, preceding the inauguration of the BAPS temple in Abu Dhabi. The meeting, held at the St. Regis Hotel, where PM Modi is currently residing, underscored the strengthening ties between India and the UAE.

The discussions encompassed a diverse spectrum of cooperation areas, including trade, investment, technology, space, education, and fostering people-to-people connections. Both leaders expressed contentment with the burgeoning economic and commercial relations, underscoring the pivotal role played by the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. The recent signing of the Bilateral Investment Treaty further attested to the deepening collaboration between the two nations.

In a gesture of appreciation, PM Modi extended gratitude to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid for his amiable treatment of the Indian community residing in Dubai. The leaders acknowledged the substantial contributions of the Indian Diaspora to Dubai’s ascension as a global center for trade, services, and tourism.

Following the meeting with the Emir of Dubai, Prime Minister Modi proceeded to address the World Governments Summit in Dubai, highlighting India’s global engagement and commitment to fostering international cooperation.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi engaged in bilateral talks with the President of Madagascar, Andry Rajoelina, further underscoring India’s commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties across the globe.

This visit marks PM Modi’s seventh to the UAE since assuming office, emphasizing the strategic importance of the relationship between the two nations. The exchange of Memorandums of Understanding and the agreement on a trade corridor aimed at connecting Europe with India through the Middle East by sea and rail signifies the ambition and shared vision for enhanced connectivity and economic cooperation.

During his visit, PM Modi also held extensive discussions with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, exploring avenues for comprehensive strategic partnership across various sectors including trade, investment, digital infrastructure, energy, and culture.
