In a momentous virtual ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a staggering array of over 2,000 railway infrastructure projects and laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 554 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The event, conducted via video conferencing, marked a significant milestone in India’s infrastructure development efforts.

The projects, valued at over $4.94 billion (Rs 41,000 crores), symbolize the ambitious vision of ‘New India’ and its unparalleled commitment to progress and efficiency. Prime Minister Modi hailed the initiative as emblematic of India’s newfound work culture characterized by unprecedented speed and scale.

Addressing the nation virtually, PM Modi expressed confidence in the forthcoming third term of the government, underscoring the remarkable pace and scale of infrastructure development initiatives. The foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations across 27 states and Union Territories was laid, with a combined cost exceeding $2.29 million (Rs 19,000 crore). These stations are envisioned to serve as vibrant city centers, facilitating seamless connectivity and enhancing urban infrastructure.

In addition to the railway projects, PM Modi also inaugurated Bharat Tex 2024, a landmark global textile event aimed at showcasing India’s prowess in the textile industry. Highlighting India’s status as a leading producer of cotton, jute, and silk, PM Modi emphasized the government’s support for farmers and the promotion of indigenous textiles such as Kasturi Cotton.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal, speaking at the inauguration, underscored the remarkable growth of Bharat Mandapam within a short span of seven months. He stressed the need to expand infrastructure to accommodate the growing demand, signaling the imperative for continued investment in infrastructure development initiatives.
