Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to education and his vision for a ‘New India’ have inspired the creation of world-class institutions similar to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), said Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology. Addressing the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Jagti on the outskirts of Jammu city, Dr. Singh emphasized the transformative impact of PM Modi’s government on India’s aspirational generation.

“Startups are booming, and new opportunities are opening up. Technology has been a great leveller, providing everyone, regardless of region, with equal opportunities,” Dr. Singh told the gathering. He highlighted that the success of many startups is attributed to strong industry linkages facilitated by government initiatives.

Dr. Singh cited the Aroma Mission as a prime example, where the government played an enabling role by building the capacity of those engaged in agricultural startups focused on lavender. This included facilitating market access to boost the sale of Himalayan products like lavender-made perfumes and other items.

“Earlier, technology was a privilege of a few,” Dr. Singh pointed out. He urged the youth to harness technology, which has created a level playing field, for societal good.

Dr. Jitendra Singh encouraged the students to prepare themselves to take on leadership roles for India’s future. “Youth will be the architects of a developed India when it completes the centenary of its Independence in 2047,” he said, underscoring the government’s relentless efforts to equip the younger generation with new skills.

Additionally, Dr. Singh advocated for collaboration and synergy among institutions to benefit students more significantly. He emphasized the importance of working together to enhance educational outcomes and opportunities for the country’s youth.

The event at IIM Jagti underscores the ongoing efforts by the Indian government to foster an environment of innovation and excellence in education, aligning with PM Modi’s vision of a ‘New India’
