Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security lapse during his visit to Punjab on January 5 was actually a “pre-planned, sponsored conspiracy”.
Punjab government did not follow the protocol. There could also have been a drone attack or any other attack of a similar sort but the Punjab government ignored all this. Congress should apologise to the country,” added Yogi.
PM Modi’s cavalcade was stuck on a flyover on January 5 after the road was blocked by protesting farmers. As PM Modi’s car remained stuck on the flyover, SPG personnel sprung into action and surrounded his car to prevent any untoward incident.
Chief ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled states have been ramping up their attacks on the Congress-led Punjab government over the recent security breach incident, alleging that the state authorities put Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s safety at risk.
Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday alleged that the Congress high-command and the Punjab Chief Minister had conspired to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to the poll-bound state on January 5.
The Assam Chief Minister demanded that Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi should be arrested for his role in the alleged conspiracy.
“There was a conspiracy with international involvement to assassinate Prime Minister Narendra Modi and it was a well-planned conspiracy and the Punjab police knew about it. I demand that the Punjab Chief Minister should be arrested for his role in the alleged conspiracy,” Himanta Biswa Sarma said
