The amount was disbursed through Direct Benefit Transfer during the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan held in Varanasi today.

This visit marks Prime Minister Modi’s first trip to his Lok Sabha constituency after assuming office for the third consecutive term. During the event, he released the 17th installment of the PM-KISAN scheme, which provides financial assistance to farmers across the country.

The latest installment brings the total benefits provided under the PM-KISAN scheme to over ₹3.04 lakh crore, reaching more than 11 crore eligible farmer families since the scheme’s inception in 2019. The scheme aims to offer direct income support to farmers, ensuring timely financial aid to meet agricultural needs and household expenses.

In his address, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the government’s commitment to the welfare of farmers and the continuous efforts to enhance their livelihoods. He stated, “The PM-KISAN scheme is a testament to our dedication to supporting the backbone of our nation – our farmers. By providing direct financial assistance, we aim to empower them and promote sustainable agricultural practices.”

The PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) scheme was launched to provide income support of ₹6,000 per year in three equal installments to small and marginal farmer families. The scheme has played a crucial role in ensuring financial stability for farmers and enabling them to invest in necessary agricultural inputs.

Today’s event in Varanasi underscores the government’s ongoing initiatives to bolster the agricultural sector and support rural economies. The direct benefit transfer mechanism ensures transparency and efficiency in the disbursement process, minimizing delays and reducing the scope for intermediaries.

The release of the 17th installment under the PM-KISAN scheme reaffirms the government’s resolve to prioritize the welfare of farmers and strengthen the agricultural foundation of India.
