Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday filed her nomination for the Wayanad Lok Sabha bypoll. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, former party chief Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were also present on the occasion. A roadshow is also expected to be held from Kalpetta New Bus Stand under the leadership of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.
On Priyanka Gandhi’s nomination, Congress MP Kishori Lal Sharma said, “It is a matter of pride for us that our leader will make her debut in Parliament. Just like in Amethi and Rae Bareli, there is enthusiasm among the people in Wayanad too… Priyanka ji is not new to politics, she is already in active politics… When a big leader goes to a state, it makes an impact.”
After the Election Commission announced the bypoll for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat last week, the path has been opened for Priyanka Gandhi to enter Parliament from this seat. The Congress had quickly announced that Priyanka Gandhi (52) would be its candidate from Wayanad.
