PM Modi will speak to Ukraine President Zelenskyy at 11.30 am and Russian President Putin at 1.30 pm IST.

According to highly placed sources in the government, the evacuation of Indian students currently stuck in Ukraine’s Sumy is likely to be top of the agenda during PM Modi’s calls with Ukraine President Zelenskyy and Russian President Putin.

Sumy, about 350 km east of capital city Kyiv and 180 km northwest of Kharkiv, is now at the centre of India’s evacuation efforts from the war zone. About 700 Indians, mostly students of medical colleges at Sumy State University, are stranded in the city in Ukraine’s northeast.

Since the invasion began on February 24, the Indian government has been evacuating Indian nationals from Ukraine via neighbouring countries under Operation Ganga.
