Bollywood actor Salman Khan recently launched $GARI, the first-ever crypto-token by Chingari, a micro-content and short video application, along with making him as the brand ambassador for its NFT marketplace and token reward program.
The actor announced the news on Twitter, “I am officially launching Chingari’s in app GARI Tokens reward programme & its NFT Marketplace. You can buy my Video NFTs, exclusively on the GARI NFT Marketplace. Cheers to a new chapter in Content Creation & Monetisation!!! #ChingariKiGari #GariTokens.”
With this announcement, Chingari becomes the first social network in India to issue crypto tokens, which is a huge accomplishment. The launch event was graced by popular celebs like Vaani Kapoor, Sonali Seygall, Kubra Sait, Nucleya and Maniesh Paul along with the co-founders of Chingari – Mr. Sumit Ghosh (Chief Executive Officer), Mr. Deepak Salvi (Chief Operating Officer), Mr. Biswatma Nayak (Head of Engineering), and Mr. Aditya Kothari (Head of Strategy) .
$GARI aims to modify the Indian subcontinent’s creator ecosystem by enabling creators to set up their own e-commerce space that includes physical merchandise, NFT creations, and the ability for fans to fund their favorite artists, with the goal of establishing ‘Social Tokens’ as the future of community platforms.
The Chingari app allows users to create and share short form videos. Each time a creator makes a video, he or she will receive a GARI token. Viewers can also use GARI tokens for international purposes, including buying goods and services directly from a video or author profile.
“Every video that gets uploaded to Chingari is parsed frame by frame and all detected objects are then matched with a live catalog of products and each video becomes shopping enabled in real-time by the time it hits your feed. All these social video commerce transactions will be done using Gari Tokens in the future,” the company said.
