At the 77th Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was honored with the prestigious Pardo alla Carriera (Career Leopard) award on Saturday. During his acceptance speech, Khan, known for his charismatic presence, humorously told the audience, “For those who don’t know me, leave, Google me and then come back.” He then introduced himself with a modest, “I am Shah Rukh Khan, I work in Indian film, mostly Hindi.”

Khan’s playful remark caught the attention of tech giant Google India, which responded with a light-hearted tweet on X (formerly Twitter). Google India tagged Khan in their post and included a crown emoji, celebrating him as the “King Khan.”

The Locarno Film Festival, established in 1946, is one of the oldest film festivals globally and is renowned for showcasing auteur cinema. This year’s festival features 225 films, including 104 world premieres and 15 debut movies, highlighting its commitment to celebrating diverse and innovative storytelling.

During the festival, Khan also revealed his next film project, King, directed by Sujoy Ghosh. He shared, “I finished Jawan and Dunki last year. Now, there’s a certain kind of film I want to do. Maybe it’s more age-centric and it’s something I have been trying for over 7 years. One day, I mentioned it to Sujoy Ghosh in my office. He said, ‘Sir, I have a subject.'”

Khan’s upcoming project and his award at Locarno continue to solidify his status as a global film icon, blending his iconic charisma with new and exciting roles in his illustrious career.
