Shubman Gill Eyes Major ICC Award, Faces Stiff Rivalry from Top Players

Team India’s star batsman Shubman Gill is in tremendous form at this time. The Indian team has reached the final of the Champions Trophy and Shubman Gill has also contributed a lot to it. Meanwhile, the final of the Champions Trophy will be played on March 9, when the teams of India and New Zealand will face each other.

But even before this, the ICC has nominated Shubman Gill for a big award. The winner will be announced next week after the title clash. However, Shubman Gill will face two big and amazing players of the world.

Shubman Gill nominated for ICC Player of the Month

The ICC has nominated Shubman Gill for the Player of the Month. Apart from him, two more players are included, including Steve Smith and Glenn Phillips. This nomination has been done for the excellent performance in the month of February.

In February, Shubman Gill played five ODIs and scored 406 runs at an average of 101.50 at a strike rate of 94.19. Before the Champions Trophy, when there was a three-match ODI series between India and England, Shubman Gill had shown amazing performance in that too.

In the first ODI, he scored 87 runs in Nagpur. After this, he scored 60 in the second match played in Cuttack, after which he played a brilliant innings of 112 runs in the third match in Ahmedabad. After this, when Team India came out to play against Bangladesh in the first match of the Champions Trophy, Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 101 runs.

Steve Smith and Glenn Phillips also got nominated

If we talk about the rest of the nominations, then the name of Steve Smith comes in it, who is captaining Australia in the Champions Trophy. Even though the Australian team was eliminated from the tournament after losing in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy,

but Steve Smith has managed to get the nomination. Before the Champions Trophy, he scored two centuries during the series played against Sri Lanka. After this, the third and last player to be nominated is Glenn Phillips of New Zealand.

Phillips has scored 236 runs in five ODIs in February at a strike rate of 124.21. In the tri-series, Glenn Phillips scored 106 runs against Pakistan in Lahore. Apart from runs, Glenn Phillips has also done excellent fielding in the Champions Trophy.
