South African All-Rounder Marco Jansen Commands INR 10 Crore Base Price for IPL 2025 Auction

Former South Africa cricketer Dale Steyn made a bold prediction on young all-rounder Marco Jansen ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) mega auction. Dale Steyn, who served as coach of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), said that Jansen could fetch more than 10 crores during the mega auction.

 

Jansen has been part of the Indian Premier League since 2021 but has struggled to make a mark yet. Over four seasons, the left-arm pacer has taken 20 wickets in 21 innings at an average of 35.75 but with a slightly higher economy rate of 9.53, with the best bowling figures of 3/25 during the league.

The ongoing T20I series between India and South Africa is an audition for players. Players can increase their chances of securing big deals in the upcoming IPL auction. After Jansen’s impressive knock in the third T20I match, Dale Steyn said that Jansen could fetch a deal worth Rs 10 crore.

 

“Marco Jansen A 10 crore player? I’d say so,” Steyn wrote on microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter).

Marco Jansen delivered an all-round performance during the third T20I between India and South Africa in Centurion on Wednesday, November 13. Jansen conceded just 7 runs per over in a high-scoring match, where 10.67 runs were scored per over. He took the crucial wicket of Sanju Samson.

 

Chasing 220 runs, Jansen scored 54 runs off 17 balls, including four fours and five sixes. He reached the half-century mark off just 16 balls, the fastest ever against India in T20I history. Arshdeep Singh dismissed him during the third ball of the last over as South Africa fell short by 11 runs in the match.

 

Tilak Varma Smashes Maiden T20I Century in Third Match
India posted a strong total of 219/6 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Left-handed batter Tilak Varma was the top scorer for the Indian team with an unbeaten 107 runs off 56 balls, including eight boundaries and seven sixes. Abhishek Sharma also smashed a half-century, scoring 50 runs off 25 balls.

 

Speaking after the match, Player of the Match Tilak said, “I am okay. It was a difficult chance but I am happy we won the game. I cannot put it in words. It was my dream to play for the country and the hundred came at the right time when the team needed it.”

 

 

“All credit to Mr. Suryakumar Yadav, our captain. He gave me the opportunity to bat at 3 and told me to express myself. Thanks to him again (turns back at SKY and smiles). I just backed my basics. Pitch was two paced to start with and it wasn’t easy for the new batters coming in when Abhishek got out. I was ready to bat long and was waiting for one partnership,” he added.
