Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor’s horror-comedy sequel, Stree 2, has taken the box office by storm, setting new records and becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024. In just five days, the film has amassed a staggering Rs 228 crore, surpassing the lifetime collections of major blockbusters like Hrithik Roshan’s Fighter and the Hindi version of Prabhas-Amitabh Bachchan’s Kalki 2898 AD.

According to Sacnilk, Stree 2 collected Rs 37 crore on Monday, bringing its total box office earnings to Rs 228.45 crore. This impressive feat comes in stark contrast to Fighter, which earned Rs 115.30 crore during its opening weekend and finished its theatrical run with a lifetime collection of Rs 199.45 crore, as reported by Bollywood Hungama. Meanwhile, Kalki 2898 AD in Hindi garnered Rs 112.15 crore in its opening weekend and concluded with a lifetime collection of Rs 294.25 crore.

Stree 2’s success was further bolstered by two major holidays—Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan. The film earned Rs 76.5 crore on Independence Day and Rs 37 crore on Raksha Bandhan, with the highest occupancies recorded in cities like Delhi-NCR, Lucknow, Bhopal, Ahmedabad, and Jaipur.

A sequel to the 2018 hit Stree, this new installment reunites the original cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. The first film was a major success, ending its box office run with a lifetime collection of Rs 129.90 crore. With its current momentum, Stree 2 is poised to set even more records in the coming days.
