Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has appealed to people to get vaccinated and follow Covid-19 protocols amid rising infections in the state.
MK Stalin appealed to people, especially residents above the age of 60 to get vaccinated at the earliest, saying the death rate among vaccinated people is much less compared to people who are unvaccinated.
MK Stalin said Omicron virulence is less compared to Delta but the spread is much faster.
“Omicron has emerged as a new threat. Everyone should take precautions against the coronavirus. Experts say Omicron causes mild disease in vaccinated persons. I appeal to all families to make sure that everyone in your family above 60 is fully vaccinated,” Stalin said.
The state government has identified over 33 lakh children aged between 15 and 18 to administer the vaccine against Covid-19 from January 3.
Besides, a mega vaccination camp was conducted on January 2 through 50,000 camps, targeting the 94 lakh people who are eligible to receive the second dose of the vaccination. (MANISH)
