Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has made a strong appeal to the central government to transfer 2,500 acres of defence lands to the Telangana Government. This request aims to facilitate road widening and other crucial civic infrastructure projects in Hyderabad.
During his visit to Delhi yesterday, CM Reddy met with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and submitted a memorandum seeking the land transfer. He highlighted the utilization of 2,462 acres of state-owned land by the Imarat Research Centre (RCI) at Ravirala village for defence purposes. Given this substantial use of state land by the defence sector, Reddy urged for the transfer of 2,450 acres of defence land to the state government to aid in the construction of roads, flyovers, and other essential infrastructure within Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
CM Reddy proposed a mutual exchange of lands between the state government and the defence department to facilitate these developments. He stressed the importance of these infrastructure projects in improving the city’s connectivity and overall urban development.
In addition to his discussions with the Defence Minister, CM Reddy also appealed to Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. He requested the sanction of 2,70,000 houses for Telangana under the Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) model this year. The Chief Minister explained that the state government has an ambitious plan to construct 25 lakh houses for the poor in their habitations, emphasizing the urgent need for central support to meet this target.
The proposals, if accepted, are expected to significantly boost Hyderabad’s infrastructure and housing development, providing better living conditions and improved urban facilities for its residents.
