Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs, Ajay Misra Teni has been summoned to New Delhi in connection with the Lakhimpur Kheri violence that resulted in the death of eight people. Teni’s son, Ashish Misra is one of the key accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Teni was seen leaving Lucknow for the national capital earlier in the day on Wednesday and landed in Delhi in the evening.

In a probe by the UP government’s SIT into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence, it said in a court submission on Tuesday that the violence was the outcome of a ‘planned conspiracy’ and not a result of criminal negligence as claimed earlier.

The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Wednesday amid uproar over the Lakhimpur Kheri killings. Opposition members holding placards and shouting slogans demanded the sacking of Ajay Misra Teni.

Opposition leaders have been demanding the removal of Ajay Misra Teni from the Union Cabinet over his son’s involvement in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has even sought a probe into Ajay Misra Teni’s role in the violence.

Four farmers part of a protest were mowed down by a Jeep in Tikunia village in UP’s Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3. Four others, including BJP workers, lost their lives in the violence that followed.
