Citigroup Inc is geared to enforce with the policy “no-jab, no job” policy as of January 14 2022,it is a step taken towards getting vaccinated to secure the enterprises and a strict COVID-19 vaccine mandate and a safety measure to control against the spread of the highly infectious Omicron COVID variant.
Citigroup said in October it would require US employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment. The bank said at the time it was complying with President Joe Biden’s administration policy requiring all workers supporting government contracts to be fully vaccinated, as the government remains a “large and important” client of Citi, said Sara Wechter, head of human resources expressed.
Citigroup will place workers who do not comply by then on unpaid leave, with their last day of employment at the end of the month, the news outlet reported. However, 90% of Citigroup staff have so far complied with the mandate and that figure is rising rapidly.
Several financial companies have pushed back their return-to-office plans, while others are encouraging staff to work from home, get vaccinated, and do regular testing. At the same time, Google has told its employees those unvaccinated will lose pay and will “eventually be fired”, reported CNBC, citing internal documents.
As per the report, a memo has been issued by the Google officials said the company had mandated employees to either declare their vaccination status and upload documentation showing proof by December 3 or apply for a medical or religious exemption
In another instance, Mayo Clinic fired 700 employees Tuesday who didn’t comply with its policy to get vaccinated against COVID-19 by Monday, CBS Minnesota reports. The dismissed employees make up about 1% of Mayo’s 73,000 workforce.
