Lucknow: In a stringent move, the Uttar Pradesh government has halted the salaries of approximately 2.5 lakh state employees who failed to disclose their property details online. This directive, aligned with the protocols followed by IAS, IPS, PPS, and PCS officers, required state employees to submit their property information via the Manav Sampada Portal by August 31.
According to official reports, 2,44,565 employees did not receive their salaries for the month of August after failing to comply with the directive. The UP government, taking a firm stance, withheld these salaries based on departmental reports. However, in a recent development, the government has extended a one-month grace period for employees to update their property details online. This extension is widely regarded as the final opportunity for compliance.
The mandate for state employees to disclose their movable and immovable assets online was issued by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh. In a letter addressed to the heads of all departments, the Chief Secretary emphasized that failure to declare assets by the specified deadline would result in consequences, including the suspension of promotions.
Despite prior instructions, only 71 percent of state employees uploaded their property details by the deadline, prompting the government’s tough response. The withholding of salaries is part of a broader effort to ensure transparency and accountability within the state’s workforce.
As the deadline approaches, employees are urged to comply with the directive to avoid further repercussions, as the government remains steadfast in its commitment to enforcing these regulations.
