Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Om Prakash Rajbhar has alleged that UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had sent goons to kill him as he accompanied his son Arvind while the latter was filing his nomination for the assembly polls.
Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party president Om Prakash Rajbhar has accused Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister of trying to get him killed. The allegation came after OP Rajbhar and his son Arvind Rajbhar on Monday faced stiff opposition from lawyers while filing the latter’s nomination for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. The BJP has rubbished the claim.
As they reached a court in Varanasi’s Shivpur to file Arvind’s nomination, several lawyers raised slogans of “Jai Shri Ram”. The Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party has allied with the Samajwadi Party for the UP polls.
Many even cussed at them, the Rajbhars claimed. In response, the Rajbhars’ supporters raised slogans of “Jai Akhilesh”. After the nomination was filed, OP Rajbhar demanded protection from the district election officer.
Speaking to India today, OP Rajhar said: “When SP-SBSP alliance candidate Arvind from the Shivpur Assembly constituency reached to file his nomination, goons of BJP were already present in black coats. They hurled abuses at me and the candidate.”
They were publicly threatening to kill both of us. They are doing this because people are driving the BJP away from every village by voting for the SP alliance on issues like inflation, unemployment, education, health, electricity etc. I demand the Election Commission to take immediate action against such goons,” he added.
Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party wrote to the Election Commission, accusing assault in the presence of police during the filing of Arvind’s nomination. It also alleged that the district magistrate and the police commissioner of Varanasi were acting at the behest of Yogi Adityanath and demanded their removal.
The BJP denied the allegation. BJP spokesperson Rakesh Tripathi said: “Rajbhar belongs to an alliance filled with goons and Mafia. In a democracy, everyone has the right to protest, but BJP has nothing to do with the incident.” He said that by accusing the advocates, Rajbhar was insulting them. “He is well aware of his impending defeat and the reaction is a reflection of the same,” Tripathi said
