Uttar Pradesh govt issues alert across state amid surge in Covid cases in China

The Uttar Pradesh government has issued an alert across the state for Covid-19 as cases of the infection increased in China and East Asia.

Amid a surge in the Covid-19 cases in China and East Asia, the Uttar Pradesh government has issued an alert across the state for the virus. Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, on Wednesday, instructed all the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) of the state and officers of the Medical Education Department to increase vigilance to keep infection at bay.

Health and Medical Education Department should start arrangements from investigation to treatment,” the deputy CM said.

He also instructed the CMOs to increase vigilance at airports. “Vigilance should be increased at the airport. People who have returned from infection-affected countries should be tested. Ensure that passengers coming from infection affected countries should be tested and checked,” Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said.

 

He asked the CMOs to identify passengers with other symptoms including cold and fever. He also asked that the passengers who have returned to UP should be advised to stay in home isolation for a few days

“The health department should make a list of people who have returned from traveling abroad and monitor their health for 12 to 14 days. In case of any kind of problem, treatment should be made available to them,” instructed the UP Deputy Chief Minister.

Seeing the increase in Covid cases, Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak said that arrangements should be made for the recruitment of Covid infected patients.

“Make adequate arrangements for resources ranging from oxygen to RTPCR, CT scan, X-ray, pathology tests. Collect masks, PPE kits and globs etc. in sufficient quantity. Manage the drugs used in the treatment,” said Pathak.

Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak said that the risk of infection has increased again in China. “By taking precautions, you can save yourself from the dangers of Covid,” he added.

He also urged the public to avoid going in crowded places unnecessarily.
