Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Lal Krishna Advani was admitted to the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi late on Wednesday night. The 96-year-old former Deputy Prime Minister is currently stable and under observation, according to a statement from the hospital.

Advani has been placed in the old private ward of AIIMS and is receiving treatment from the Department of Urology. Although specific details regarding his ailment are yet to be disclosed, hospital sources have confirmed that his condition is stable.
Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda has proactively engaged with Advani’s family and AIIMS officials to monitor the situation closely. Advani’s Political Legacy
Born in Karachi (now in Pakistan) on November 8, 1927, LK Advani joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942. He played a pivotal role in the BJP, serving as its National President during multiple terms—1986 to 1990, 1993 to 1998, and 2004 to 2005. Advani is recognized for his extensive contribution to Indian politics, having held key positions, including Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, in Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s cabinet from 1999 to 2004.
In the run-up to the 2009 general elections, Advani was considered the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate as the Leader of the Opposition. Although the Congress party won the elections, he paved the way for Sushma Swaraj to take over as the Leader of the Opposition in the 15th Lok Sabha.
