Virat Kohli jumped 14 places in the ICC rankings for T20I batters after he scored a century against Afghanistan in the 2022 edition of the Asia Cup.
Indian batter Virat Kohli has jumped 14 places to No.15 in the T20I rankings for batters after scoring his maiden T20I century against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup 2022 match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Earlier, Kohli dropped down to No.29 following his dip in form over the last few months. However, the 33-year-old regained his form after finishing as the second-highest run-scorer in the Asia Cup after Pakistan’s Mohammad Rizwan.
Apart from his century against the Afghans, Kohli also notched half-centuries against Nizakat Khan’s Hong Kong and Babar Azam’s Pakistan.
Sri Lanka spinner Wanindu Hasaranga also jumped three places up to sixth in the ICC rankings for T20I bowlers. He also jumped seven places to fourth in the all-rounder’s rankings after he became the Player of the Tournament in the Asia Cup.
Hasaranga picked up a three-wicket haul in the final against Pakistan and helped Sri Lanka win the Asia Cup for the sixth time.
Hasaranga is the 6th ranked T20I bowler after Josh Hazlewood, Tabraiz Shamsi, Adil Rashid, Adam Zampa and Rashid Khan.
SHAKIB BACK ON TOP
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan is back to the top of the all-rounder’s ranking after he replaced Afghanistan skipper Mohammad Nabi.
Shakib captained the Tigers in the Asia Cup and chipped in with handy performances. He also became the second cricketer after Dwayne Bravo to notch 6000 runs and pick up 400 wickets in T20s.
Under the Magura-born Shakib, Bangladesh failed to win a single match in Asia Cup 2022.
Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa moved 34 places up to the 34th spot after his impressive showing in the Asia Cup.
