Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav commented that Yogi Adityanath will become the PM candidate if he wins this time. However, he was quick to add that this is what the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) can think.
He was speaking at Panchayat Aaj Tak and was responding to the question that what if Yogi Adityanath returns to power, keeping him out for 10 years straight.
“Toh phir woh Pradhan Mantri ke dawedar ho jayenge [He will become the PM candidate then]”, adding: “Ye BJP wale soch lein [BJP can think so]”, Yadav said.
Akhilesh Yadav’s remark comes right ahead of the seven-phase Uttar Pradesh Assembly election that is slated to kickstart from February 10.
The Election Commission of India (EC) announced the dates for assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The Uttar Pradesh Assembly election 2022 will be held from February 10 in seven phases, while the counting of votes will take place on March 10.
During these Assembly polls, Uttar Pradesh is likely to witness a four-cornered fight between the ruling BJP, Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, the Congress and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party.
The SP chief also said that the public will vote the Saffron party out in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly election. He further added that the janata will do “Radhe-Radhe” to the BJP, adding that the party is on its way out in the state.
He went on to say that women are unsafe in Uttar Pradesh the most, referring to the Hathras and the Unnao cases.
“Women are unsafe in UP the most. Will Hathras, Unnao incidents be forgotten? Check NCRB data. This state has IPS absconding. The state has reported the most cases riots, violence, rape, and eve-teasing,” Akhilesh Yadav said.
