In a setback to the Aam Aadmi Party, around 150 leaders from AAP joined the BJP a day after Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann visited Gujarat.
A day after Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann visited Gujarat, around 150 leaders and workers from the party joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)
The Congress, too, suffered a setback as many of its members joined the BJP as well.
Arvind Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann were on a two-day visit to Gujarat where they held a roadshow, visited a local temple, Gandhi ashram and conducted meetings. They left Gujarat on Sunday evening. The exodus of the AAP leaders and workers to the BJP happened on Monday at the saffron party’s office in Kamalam in Gandhinagar.
BJP Gujarat’s general secretary Pradipsinh Vaghela said, “Delhi CM and Punjab CM have not reached their home or even had food and already many from their party joined the BJP. This clearly shows that they can’t fool the people of Gujarat. Their visit does not mean anything to Gujarat. There are blessings of Gujarat’s people to the BJP. In just five days of the AAP government in Punjab, farmers were lathicharged.”
Vaghela, while addressing the new entrants, said, “Today, you left AAP and Congress. They will say that you people are of no use. But let me tell you, for the development of Gujarat, you are very useful and welcome in the BJP. For a long time, there has been a BJP government in Gujarat because the people have faith in us and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”
