Life expectancy in Italy falls after spread of pandemic

ISTAT, Italy’s national statistics bureau, has stated in a report that nationwide life expectancy for those born in 2020 dropped by 1.2 years, compared with 2019.   “In 2020, the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic and the sharp increase in the risk of mortality that derived from it abruptly interrupted the increase of life expectancy at birth that had marked a trend up to 2019,” ISTAT said.   Life expectancy for men in some of Italy’s worst-hit provinces in the pandemic has dropped by more than four years. Actor Leena Paul arrested for aiding boyfriend in a ₹200 crore extortion case

The Economic Offences Wing of the Delhi Police has arrested actor Leena Maria Paul on Sunday for allegedly helping her boyfriend Sukesh Chandrasekhar in extorting ₹200 crore from a businessman’s wife.   Chandrasekhar is already an accused in 21 cases, including the Election Commission bribery case.   The police have invoked the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act against the accused and further investigation into the matter is under way.   A senior police officer said that Paul allegedly helped Chandrasekhar in duping former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan…
