At least eight people died and another 16 were injured after two double-decker private buses collided with each other on Monday morning on UP’s Purvanchal Expressway.
According to reports, the incident happened near Narayan Pur village under Loni Katra police station area.
Both vehicles were heading to Delhi from Bihar when the collision occurred. When one of the buses stopped suddenly, the second, which was at full speed, collided with it.
The injured were referred to Lucknow Trauma Center after treatment. “The severely injured were sent to the trauma centre, while those with minor injuries were treated at the Community Health Centre. The post-mortem of those who died is ongoing. Further investigation is underway,” Anurag Vats, Superintendent of Police Barabanki, UP told ANI.
A team of Barabanki police administration rushed to the crash site. Top officials were also present on the spot.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief and extended condolences to the families of the victims who died in the accident.
