Conserve India, an NGO endeavoring to manage urban wastes, held a ‘Clean Yamuna of plastic waste campaign’ on the Earth Day, dated April 21st. The Clean Yamuna drive was also supported by the Earth Day Network. PokerBaazi has joined them in this initiative. The portal that is flanked by thousands of poker enthusiasts every day hosted a 5 LAC guaranteed poker tournament online on April 20th, raising INR 90,000 as the entry fees. PokerBaazi further matched the entry fees to donate INR 180,000 for the Clean Yamuna Campaign by Conserve India.
Yamuna River, often helmed as Delhi’s lifeline, has been gasping for life under the weight of virtually no aquatic life, over 20 drains pouring untreated sewage and piles of plastic dumps. While the Sewage Treatment Plants can treat only up to 75% of the waste, the plastics remain untouched. Furthermore, the toxicity from the wastes enters our food chain, owing to farming activities taking place at the banks of the river. To the same end, Conserve India hosted an ‘open for all’ event to train the local community, including rag-pickers, farmers, citizens and interested parties to upcycle plastic wastes that are traditionally believed to be non-recyclable, into “Handmade Recycled Fabric.” This fabric can then be used for crafting apparel, bags, footwear etc. Conserve India demonstrated and trained individuals on collecting and processing plastic wastes from banks of Yamuna on 21 April.
To support this noble cause, PokerBaazi hosted a 5 LAC Guaranteed online poker tournament, on April 20. The entry fees collected from the tournament was directly given away as proceeds to Conserve India; PokerBaazi also matched the total amount collected as entry fee, to further swell the donation and contributed a total of 180,000 to Conserve India’s Clean Yamuna Drive.

We were happy to host a poker tournament and spread awareness about the drive. Furthermore, we matched the tournament fees and donated the entire amount of 180,000 to their cause. PokerBaazi’s association with Conserve India is part of its social welfare initiative. The poker platform has time and again hosted charity poker tournaments, matching the tournament fees as donations for various causes meant for delivering a social impact. The platform is also encouraging poker players to directly contribute to social causes at its platform.
